Preserve What Matters Most

Context and Intent

Overview

Preserve What Matters Most is a still photography campaign for La Costeña that explores the emotional value of food beyond its functional role.

The project builds a visual narrative where the product is not only an ingredient, but a witness to everyday moments worth keeping: family, origin, and time.
La Costeña is a brand deeply embedded in everyday cooking. Its products are present in routines that often go unnoticed but carry emotional weight: shared meals, inherited recipes, and time spent together.

The intent of the campaign was to visually translate that emotional presence into a clear, contemporary photographic language — one that honors the product while placing human moments at the center of the story.

The Idea

The concept “Preserve What Matters Most” is articulated through the intersection of three elements:

  • Family, as the space where recipes, care, and rituals are passed down.

  • Origin, present in the hands that work the land.

  • Time, understood as memory and continuity.

Photography becomes the bridge between these worlds: from the field to the table, from the ingredient to the moment.

Visual System

1. The Base

A top-shot composition placing the can at the center of the frame, surrounded by an abundant bed of its own ingredients.

The product becomes a landscape: color, texture, and repetition used as a graphic language.
Low, lateral lighting — similar to a warm sunset — creates contrast, depth, and volume.

2. The Polaroid

Above this base, a hand holds a polaroid capturing real human moments: families cooking together, shared meals, agricultural labor.

The polaroid connects two worlds: origin and home.
It visually closes the metaphor behind the campaign’s message.

Photography Approach

The photographic direction focused on balance: controlled composition with lived-in emotion.

  • Built but believable scenes

  • Warm, contrast-driven lighting

  • Clean compositions that allow the emotion to exist without overstatement

The product is always present, but integrated into the moment rather than imposed on it.

La Costeña

Outcome

A campaign about food — but also about memory.
About preserving ingredients, and preserving what connects us.

A solid visual system that links product, people, and origin, while maintaining strong brand presence across every touchpoint.
